At the weekend I helped grandad take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. Did you know that the RSPB is a charity that helps to look after wildlife in the UK?
Every year they ask everyone to help count the birds in their garden for one hour so they can get a picture of the different birds in each area. It helps them to spot any birds that may be in trouble so they can help them.
I went to grandad’s house on Saturday morning as we were going to watch the birds for an hour before lunch. Grandad let me look through his binoculars and we made a list of the different birds we could see. Grandma feeds the birds every day so there are always a lot in their garden.
So what did we see?
After we counted the birds, we had our lunch and then grandad took me home.
It was great fun, I hope we can do it again next year, but in the meantime I am going to carry on feeding the birds in my garden. Grandma also reminded me to leave the birds some fresh water especially when the weather is cold.
Did you take part? If you did, what did you see? Write to me and let me know.
