In the UK, Road Safety Week starts on 21st November. Lots of nurseries, schools, youth clubs and communities will get involved to try and make the roads a safer place for us all.

What is it about?

It’s to remind us all about the dangers on our roads; fast cars, crossing roads safely, the increasing number of cars and lorries and about keeping safe.

It helps us be aware of the risks on roads and how this affects our daily lives and being able to walk, cycle and live healthy active lives.

It’s a time to get campaigns together:

  • To remind drivers to slow down around schools and estates where children are playing
  • To learn to ride a bike safely
  • It’s a chance to get together and shout loud to make the roads safer for everybody

It’s a chance for everybody to speak out about:

  • Cars slowing down
  • Sober driving
  • Wearing seat belts
  • Not using mobiles when driving
  • Keeping eyes peeled and being aware
  • Walking when possible
  • Using public transport

Are you getting involved? If so, write and tell me about it. Don’t forget to make sure you are wearing bright clothes and are very visible when walking in the dark.
